Robert “Jim” Burke

Robert Jim BurkeRobert “Jim” Burke, age 74, of Forest View Drive, Reynoldsville, PA passed away April 8, 2017 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois, PA.

He was born on March 16, 1943 in St. Marys, PA to Robert E. and Leonore (Murphy) Burke.

Jim was a graduate of Bennetts Valley High School.

He was raised in Caledonia, he lived 15 years in Benezette, and the past 35 years in Reynoldsville area.

He served in the US Army during Vietnam Era and continued in US Army Reserves for many years.

After that, Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator, worked on the railroad, and retired from Metaldyne in 2008.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns, scratch off tickets, Sunday drives with Bonnie and helping others.

Jim was an eighty-nine gallon blood donor.

He is survived by his companion of 35 years, Bonnie Grill of Reynoldsville, PA; two children, Dennis Burke of Benezette, PA and Shaun (Jessica) Burke of Brockport, PA; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six brothers, Stan Burke of Emporium, PA, Reggie Burke of Benezette, PA, Carter Burke of Boston, MA, Mike Burke of Caledonia, PA, Bill Burke of Emporium, PA, and Anthony Burke of Emporium, PA; and six sisters, Marion Shadduck of Byrnedale, PA, Missy Cortina of Force, PA, Maria Beers of DuBois, PA, Mona Burke of Caledonia, PA, Marleena Fox of Caledonia, PA, and Theresa Burke of Ridgway, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There is no visitation.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Force, PA with Father Mark Mastrian as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Red Cross and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
