Rollover Crash in Washington Township; Driver Escapes Injury

policeWASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, a one-vehicle accident occurred yesterday on Interstate 80, west of Stevenson Hill Road, at approximately mile marker 92, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Police say around 5:15 a.m. on April 3, 27-year-old Jose H. Cerda, of Granite Shoals, Tx., was traveling eastbound on I-80 and attempted to apply the brakes on his 2003 Dodge Ram to slow down while approaching a vehicle in front of him. The vehicle began to slide, and Cerda lost control of it.

The vehicle struck a concrete barrier, overturned, and hit an embankment. The vehicle then rolled back onto its tires and came to a rest in the ditch along the right shoulder of I-80, according to police.

Cerda was using a seat belt and was not injured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Zimmerman’s Towing.
