Rose E. (DeGroat) Heindl

Rose E. Heindl, age 73, of 602 Hyde Ave., Ridgway and Boca Raton, FL, died early Sunday morning at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born January 7, 1943, in Ridgway, daughter of the late John E. and Grace L. (Huber) DeGroat.

She married Dennis D. Heindl on October 13, 1962, he survives.

She had resided in Ridgway all her life and was a graduate of St. Leo High School. She had been a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Daguscahonda and had attended St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway. She had been employed by Home Telephone Company for 12 years. She enjoyed her granddaughters and family, her little dog Tinker, traveling to Florida, the casino, country music, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Rose was instrumental, along with her husband Dennis, in accomplishing the Ridgway High School Project, the St. Leo Church Project, the Train Station Project, the Ridgway Wresling Complex, the Lung Center Project at Penn Highlands Dubois, and the Eye and Ear Foundation Project in Pittsburgh.

Surviving, besides her husband Dennis D. Heindl in Ridgway, is 1 daughter Paula M. Zameroski of Dubois, 2 granddaughters Kelly and Katie Zameroski both of Dubois, 3 sisters: Twila (Kenneth) Miller of Ridgway, Caroline Walker of Ridgway, and Patricia (Francis) Patterson of Ridgway, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son James Keith Heindl.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose E. Heindl will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Leo Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
