Rossiter Man Arrested for Domestic Assault in Canoe Township

Police sirenCANOE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, a domestic assault occurred on Saturday night at a residence on Smyerstown Road, in Rossiter, Canoe Township, Indiana County.

Around 10:34 p.m. on April 29, state police responded to a Rossiter residence for a reported domestic violence incident.

The known, 25-year-old female victim retreated to a restroom and was able to contact police. She displayed signs of recent physical abuse and was taken to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for treatment.

The accused – a known, 21-year-old Rossiter man – was taken into custody for simple assault.

Charges were filed in District Court 40-3-03.

The name of the accused was not released.
