Roswitha “Rose” Elizabeth (Knob) Sprankle

20160318013237_00001ARoswitha “Rose” Elizabeth (Knob) Sprankle, age 72, of Brookville PA, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh PA.

She was born on July 29, 1943, in Trier, Germany, and she was married to Kenneth M. Sprankle in Frederick, Maryland; they were married for over 50 years.

She formerly worked as an LPN and then later as a Respiratory Therapist. She worked at the Brookville Hospital for over 30 years. She looked forward to Tuesday morning breakfasts with her retired friends from the hospital where they would get together and gossip. She enjoyed being able to shop with her cousin and best friend Cindy Davis, every chance they had. Rose was a great cook but only recently she took up baking. She loved to laugh and carry on with her friends. She enjoyed times when her and Ken would travel to Germany to see her family. Rose loved life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sisters, Marlena (Rudi) Bretzina of Germany, and Hermina (Mel) Bouycamp of Alaska; she is also survived by many German nieces and nephews as well as numerous family members all over the United States. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 21, 2016, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 8:00pm, also at the funeral home, and officiated by the Rev. Chuck Jack.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital, Attn: Respiratory Therapy Department, 100 Hospital Road, Brookville PA, 15825.
