Russell J Kuntz, Jr., 79 of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania died on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Born Thursday, January 20, 1938 in Henderson Township, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Russell J Kuntz Sr. and the late Anna (Scaddin) Kuntz.
He was the husband of Mary Ann (McIntire) Kuntz, who were married on August 2, 1960.
He graduated from Sykesville High School and Clarion University.
He was an Avid sportsman, He lettered in three sports and Sykesville High School and played baseball for Clarion.
He taught in Key West, Florida and Punxsutawney Area School District for over 30 years.
He coached junior high football and basketball. He managed the summer recreation program at West End Elementary School before managing George C. Brown Swimming Pool for many years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 56 years and two sons, Jeffrey J Kuntz and Kevin Kuntz all of Punxsutawney, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Donald Kuntz, a sister, Nancy L. Kuntz, a brother-in-law Thomas McCoy, a sister-in-law Cora May Kuntz and a nephew Donnie Kuntz.
At Russ’ request, there will be no visitation and a private funeral service. Memorial contributions may be sent to Cancer Care Fund, Care of Punxsutawney Area Hospital at 81 Hillcrest Dr Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
