Ruth E. Manners

Ruth MannersRuth E. Manners, 89 of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family, where she went to meet the Lord.

Mrs. Manners was born on October 13, 1927 in Reynoldsville, a daughter of the late Phillip and Mabel (Hollenbaugh) Uplinger.

She was preceded in death on June 26, 2005 by her husband Pastor Ernest N. Manners. They were married July 23, 1946.

She was an active member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, she liked to quilt, embroider, and crafting in general.

She was a very devoted Christian woman, she liked to read, she was very helpful to others, and was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by three daughters; Betty (Robert) Dicello, Ruby (Thomas) Piszker and Janice (Jeffrey) Kaza, all of Punxsutawney, one sister-in-law; Jean Uplinger of Reynoldsville, ten grandchildren; Thomas Piszker (Liza), Daniel Piszker (Tricia), Lisa Piszker, Crystal (Terry) Reed, James Dicello, Richard (Shayla) Dicello, Jeremy (Jennifer), Jason, Julena, and Justine Kaza, eleven great-grandchildren; Ryan, Tyler, Brandon, Trigg, Michael, Robert, Sky Ann, David, Brock, Brylie, and Wyatt, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers; William, Norman, Robert, John, Ivan, and Howard Uplinger.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. An additional viewing will be held from 10-11 on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, with a funeral service to follow at 11 with Pastor Doug Wolfe officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cross Town Food Pantry of Punxsutawney, or the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
