Sally Lynn Cook

Sally Lynn Cook, 81 of Brookville passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Brookville Hospital.

Mrs. Cook was born on August 18, 1933 in Ford City, Pa the daughter of the late Charles and Regina (Lynn) Zimmerman. Sally married Richard Jerome Cook on August 21, 1954. Richard preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cook enjoyed working and retired from Traffic Control Devices, Inc. of Altamonte Springs, FL after a long and satisfying career.

Following retirement, Sally kept very busy as she had a passion for reading, spending time outdoors, and gardening. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an avid part of the Laurel Brooke Landing Retirement Community Card Club. But most of all, Sally cherished her family and especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sally is survived by five sons and three daughters. Her sons are Michael Henry Cook and his wife Jolynn of Worthville, PA; Richard Cook and his wife Pamela of Brookville; Timothy Cook and his wife Shelly of Apex, NC; Gary Cook of Brookville, and Stephen Cook of Winter Park, FL. Her daughters are Lesa DeFelice and her husband Carl Casselberry, FL; Amy Hewitt and her husband Patrick of Maitland, FL and Julie Youngmark and her husband John of State College, PA. Sally is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Richard, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by a son, Tony Cook and a brother, Charles “Chick” Zimmerman.

Friends will be received from 4 – 8 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville and officiated by Father William Laska.

Interment will follow at Saint Catherine of Siena Church Cemetery in DuBois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mrs. Cook’s memory to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
