Sally Nelson

Nelson SallySally Nelson, age 87, of DuBois, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born on March 20, 1928 in Oil City, PA; the daughter of the late Harold L. and Twila D. (DeArment) Hubbs.

Mrs. Nelson was a 1944 graduate of DuBois Area Senior High School, worked at Deposit Bank as a telephone operator, and was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and attended Tri County Church of God in DuBois.

She loved to plant and nurture flowers, was an avid fan of Penn State Football and Pittsburgh Steelers, enjoyed watching golf and tennis. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Kristina N. Nelson of DuBois; one son, David H. Nelson and wife, Karen of DuBois; five grandchildren: Seth D. Nelson of Vandergrift, PA, Betsy Clouser and husband, Adam, Ethan A. Nelson, and Matthew R. Nelson, and Michael Hartzfeld all of DuBois ; and four great-grandchildren. She was the last of her generation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold M. Nelson whom she married November 25, 1954 in DuBois and who passed away June 1, 2005; and brother, Donn Hubbs.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tri County Church of God on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Bish officiating.

Friends are invited for a time of gathering at Tri County Church of God on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of services.

Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association – Pittsburgh, PO BOX 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312 or one of the donor’s choice.
