Sara (McManigal) Mays

MaysSara (McManigal) Mays, age 84, of Butler Street, peacefully went to sleep at home.

She married Gil R. Mays of Clarington on February 2, 1955, in Hazen, Pa.; Gil preceded her in death in 1987.

Sara worked at Sylvania Electronics in Brookville, Pa., and she was also a trusted babysitter to family and friends.

She was a member of the Jefferson Manor Auxillary and ran the Gift Shop at Jefferson Manor for many years; eventually, she had to slow down.

Sara was a true caretaker as a mother and grandmother to her children and their friends. She would make meals never really knowing how many she would have at meal time; there were always extra children at her house and she was an exceptional cook.

She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren. She played games on her computer and enjoyed following friends and family on Facebook. She also enjoyed playing games on Facebook; Bingo was her favorite and it wasn’t uncommon for her to stay up half the night on the computer.

She loved her animals, especially her dog Mazie, who never left her side.

Sara is survived by two daughters; Kathy Mays and Cindy Lou Davis; two Sons, William Mays, Richard (Julie) Mays, all of Brookville, Pa.; two grandsons, Justin (Jackie), and Ricky (Rachel); one granddaughter, Rhonda Mays; five great-grandchildren; Lexie, Mady, Emilia, Macken, and Charlotte; four step-grandchildren, Jake, Alec, Jazmin, and Caitlin. She also had two special friends Millie Fenstermaker and Michelle Mitchell Hetrick, both of Brookville, Pa. She is also survived by two sisters Margaret Jakeway of Brookville, Pa.; and Dorothy Sprankle, of New York; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Todd Allen Mays; two brothers Robert McManigal and William McManigal.
