Sarah J. Bishop

Sarah J. Bishop, 85, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at home with her family.

She was born April 15, 1929, in Walston, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Matilda (Martzloff) Smith.

On Nov. 15, 1947, she married Carl O. Bishop, Sr. He survives and resides in Punxsutawney. She was a loving and faithful wife of nearly 67 years.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Walston, where she was also a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Sarah worked with her husband and sons at the family-owned business of Cloe Lumber.

Her enjoyments were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling in a motorhome with her husband, family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Carl, she is survived by three children, Carl O. Bishop, Jr. and wife Joyce, Paul Bishop and Jayne Rebuck and
husband Kevin, all of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Carl Bishop III of Charlotte, North Carolina, Crystel Bishop of Greensburg, Collin Bishop of Punxsutawney, Justin Rebuck and wife Tabby of Clymer, and Adam Rebuck of Punxsutawney; and three great-grandchildren, Forrest, Shelby and Veda Rebuck.

She was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at the Assembly of God Church in Walston.

A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, officiated by Pastor Dennis Sproull.

Interment will follow at Olive Cemetery, Oliveburg.
