MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Winning $250 on a scratch-off ticket was just the beginning for a North Carolina man who ended up with a $1 million jackpot on New Year’s Eve.

Morehead City resident Joseph Rose told lottery officials that after he won $250 from a scratch-off ticket early in the day on New Year’s Eve, he decided to push his luck and buy another ticket.
That second ticket ended up netting Rose a $1 million top prize.
