Residents of Iha village on Seram Island said the 49-foot-long mystery creature, which some have hypothesized was a giant squid or whale before it started to rot, washed up Tuesday night on Hulung Beachand was first spotted by Asrul Tuanakota, who initially mistook the carcass for a stranded boat.
