Say What?!: Toll Booth Worker Says He Was Fired for Paying a Toll

Tollbooth worker fired for paying tollBOCA GRANDE, Florida (EYT) – A Florida toll booth worker claims he lost his job for helping customers pay their tolls with his own money, even though he’d done it many times before and was never punished.

Toll booth worker Vladislav “Sam” Samsonov, 77, has worked the booth for almost 30 years, often using his own money when a motorist comes up short of the amount owed.

While his bosses have asked him not to do this in the past, he says he’d never been formally disciplined – until he was abruptly told his work week would be reduced from five days to two as a punishment.

He says when he refused to comply, they fired him.
