Sherri Lee McGuirk

McGuirk PhotoSherri Lee McGuirk of Clarion passed away at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital on March 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 56 years of age.

Born on April 15, 1960 in Brookville, she was the daughter of William and Vera (Maxwell) Schreckengost, who survive.

She graduated from Clarion Area High School in 1978. In May, 1988 she married Dennis McGuirk, who also survives.

Sherri was a corrections officer with Clarion County for 10 years from 1995 until 2005.

She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Department of Corrections Training Academy as well. After 2005, she became a homemaker and loved taking care of the massive family garden.

Sherri was a rock to her family, always there picking up the pieces.

Sherri is survived by her parents, Bill and Vera Schreckengost, of Miola; her husband, Dennis McGuirk, of Miola; her sons, Justin McGuirk and wife Brittany, of Miola, and James McGuirk, of Miola; and her two grandchildren, Addison and Aiden McGuirk.

In addition, she is survived by her brother, Bill Schreckengost and wife Tonya, of Miola; her sisters, Sandy Hanes and husband Randy, of Strattanville, Julie Schaffer and husband Mike, of Curllsville, and Vicki Schreckengost, of Miola; and her mother-in-law, Lois McGuirk, of Miola.

Sherri was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Donald McGuirk.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. on Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, officiating.

Interment will be in the Miola Cemetery.
