Shirley Ann Scolari

Shirley Ann Scolari, 67, of 140 Anthony Road, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born October 24, 1946 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Lyle E. and Ethel B. Stockman Huggler. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1964. She was the owner of the former Scolari Family Day Care for 25 years, and had worked at the Stackpole Carbon Company, Community Nurses, Elk Haven Nursing Home, and Hour Glass Dry Cleaners.

On May 13, 1967 in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Robert D. Scolari who preceded her in death on November 23, 2004.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Freeburg of St. Marys and Deanna Kennelly and her husband Michael of DuBois; two sons, Robert L. Scolari and his wife Jennifer of St. Marys and Ryan P. Scolari of St. Marys; seven grandchildren, Nicole Freeburg, Michael Kennelly, Maranda Kennelly, Matthew Kennelly, Taylor Freeburg, Mason Kennelly, and Reece Scolari; two sisters, Janice Burns and her husband Gordon of St. Marys and Gloria Dietz and her husband Kenneth of St. Marys; and two brothers, Donald E. Huggler and his wife Nancy of St. Marys and Randy T. Huggler of St. Marys.

Mrs. Scolari was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her day care kids. She taught CCD at her church for 30 years and had a strong belief in angels. She enjoyed cooking for her family, the holidays, traveling, crossword puzzles, her convertible, and her music, especially Rod Stewart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
