Sigel Man Jailed on Felony Drug Charges After Police Discover Weed, Scale in Car

Hemp (cannabis)ELDRED TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Sigel man is facing felony drug and related charges following a search of his car on State Route 949, in Sigel, Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Court documents indicate criminal charges were filed against 31-year-old Jesse James McNutt, of Sigel.

According to a criminal complaint, on December 14, 2015, Marienville-based State Police received a phone call from a known woman stating there was marijuana in Jesse McNutt’s car located on Route 949 in Sigel.

The complaint indicates that around 11:55 a.m. on December 14, authorities arrived at the scene, knocked on the front door of the Sigel residence, and made contact with McNutt who opened the door. McNutt gave permission to authorities to search his vehicle and signed a Waiver of Rights and Consent to Search form.

Troopers Craig Needham and Michael Boltz searched McNutt’s vehicle and allegedly found the following controlled substances/paraphernalia:

  • Plastic ziplock baggie containing approximately one ounce of processed marijuana
  • Black digital scale
  • One glass smoking pipe

The marijuana, scale, and pipe were seized and placed into evidence at PSP Marienville.

Based on the investigation, Trooper Needham requested an arrest warrant be issued for McNutt.

He was arraigned at 1:39 p.m. on February 26 in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak on the following charges:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
  • Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
  • Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

Unable to post $25,000.00 Monetary (10%) bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 14 with Judge Bazylak presiding.
