Clarion (7-4, 1-3 PSAC) will have an immediate opportunity to bounce back when they host Shippensburg tomorrow evening.

The Marauders led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the Golden Eagles rallied to outscore Millersville 17-8 in the second quarter to pull within just a couple of possessions by the halftime break. Clarion tied the score briefly in the third quarter but could not keep up the pressure, eventually falling away in the waning minutes of action.

Kadijah Dickson had her fourth double-double of the season, scoring a team-high 19 points while also grabbing a game- and season-high 15 rebounds. Seven of those boards came on the offensive glass, and Dickson also contributed four assists and three steals. Yasmin Lewis played through foul trouble to produce a solid stat line of 12 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Clarion struggled to get things going from beyond the three-point arc, going just 1-of-10 (.111) in the game while the Marauders went 9-of-19 (.500). The Golden Eagles forced 19 turnovers but turned them into just 10 points.

After Millersville opened up their big lead at the end of the first quarter, Clarion began to chip away in the second period. Dickson cut the lead to single digits with a bucket at the 7:20 mark, and Haille Hart made a midrange jumper from the right side to cut the lead to 21-15. The Marauders pushed the lead back to three possessions, but Lewis scored in transition with 51 seconds remaining in the period to cut Millersville’s lead to 28-23 at the halftime break.

Taylor Moltz made a three-pointer little more than two minutes into the third quarter to cut the deficit to three points a 31-28, and Lewis followed that up with a bucket in the paint to make it a one-point game. Dickson finally tied the score with an and-one opportunity at the 5:51 mark, scoring through contact to even things up at 33, and the teams traded baskets for the next few minutes. The last time the game was tied game at the 3:23 mark of the third, when Yndiah Bobo scored off an offensive rebound to make it 38-38.

That gave way to an 8-0 run from Millersville, who took a 46-38 lead into the fourth quarter. Lewis pulled Clarion back within two points at the 8:09 mark, making it 46-44, but the lead never again dipped back to a single possession.
