Snow-Covered Roadway Causes Crash in Washington Township

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred on Friday, December 30 on Interstate 80 in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, Max Zichini, 24, of Tennessee, was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata west in the truck lane of the rest area facility located at mile marker 88 when he lost control on the snow-covered roadway.

Police say both passenger-side tires struck the curb, and the Sonata spun 90 degrees in a clockwise direction before sliding about 90 feet and then coming to a rest, facing north.

The Sonata was removed from the scene by McPherson Towing.

Zichini was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.
