Snow, Ice Covered Roadway Causes Crash on Route 899

BARNETT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a one-vehicle crash occurred when a driver lost control on the slippery roadway and struck a guide rail along State Route 899 in Barnett Township Sunday afternoon.

According to police, around 4:03 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, a crash occurred on State Route 899 just north of Greenwood Road in Barnett Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 2004 Pontiac Vibe was traveling south on State Route 899 when the driver lost control while negotiating a left curve in the snow and ice covered roadway. The vehicle struck a guide rail with the passenger side front quarter panel and then spun clockwise and struck the guide rail with the driver’s side rear bumper.

It came to a final rest facing north just off the west side of the roadway.

No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
