Softball Roundup: Wall Helps Curwensville Roll Past Purchase Line


CURWENSVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Mackenzie Wall was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs to help Curwensville to a 15-0, three-inning victory over visiting Purchase Line.

Abby Pentz doubled with a pair of runs scored and an RBI for the Lady Tide. Bailey Bloom went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs with Ally Hess driving in a pair of runs while going 1-for-2. Alyssa Bakaysa had three RBIs with a run scored and Taylor Luzier had a pair of runs scored.

Dana Campbell had the lone hit for the Lady Dragons.

Joslynne Freyer struck out six and gave up one hit to earn the victory for Curwensville.

For Purchase Line, Terri Bugay took the loss.

MARION CENTER 11, BROOKVILLE 2

MARION CENTER, Pa. – Jasmine Hill tossed a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks to lead Marion Center to an 11-2 win over visiting Brookville.

Tayler Rafferty hit a solo home run for the Lady Raiders in the third inning.

REDBANK VALLEY 14, CLARION-LIMESTONE 6

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Tia Hargerter collected three hits, including two doubles, and drove in four runs to help Redbank Valley to a 14-6 win at Clarion-Limestone.

Brynn Rearick added three hits, including a double, and three RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs, who used a 12-run fourth-inning to erase a 5-1 deficit, while Gabby Dinger also had three hits and an RBI.

Montana Hetrick, Brooke Holben and TorriLynn Nelson also had three hits for Redbank Valley with Nelson picking up a triple and two RBIs and Hetrick driving in two runs as well. Shaylee Shreckengost chipped in with a double and two RBIs.

Sadie Mahle paced C-L going 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Megan Stahlman and Karleigh Aaron added a pair of hits each.

Hetrick got the win allowing six runs on 13 hits and a walk while striking out two.

TYRONE 1, CLEARFIELD 0

TYRONE, Pa. – Cate Baran threw a complete-game shutout to help Tyrone defeat visiting Clearfield, 1-0.

Baran struck out 10 batters while giving up four hits.

Offensively, Maci Brodzina paced the Lady Eagles going 1-for-3 with the winning run. Callie Maceno doubled and Baran had the lone RBI.

Emma Hipps paced the Lady Bison with a pair of hits including a double. Olivia Bender and Kyra Mollura each singled.

Hipps struck out nine batters in the circle but gave up the winning run and two hits in the loss for Clearfield.

A-C VALLEY 17, FOREST AREA 1, 5 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Brogan Armagost went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored to lead visiting A-C Valley to a 17-1, five-inning victory over Forest Area at East Forest.

Emily Wetzel was also 2-for-5 including a triple and run scored for the Lady Falcons. Cami McNany went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored while Kylee Eaton went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kelsie Terwilliger went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs and Sydnie Schmidt went 1-for-1 and scored twice.

Baylee Blauser got the win for A-C Valley giving up four hits and a run while striking out nine.
