All American Awards and Engraving Soldier Spotlight: Marvin Gromley

Marvin Gromley served our country in the United States Marines.

Name: Marvin Douglas Gromley

Born: August 23, 1918

Died: May 25, 2017

Hometown: Brookville, PA

Branch: United States Marines Corps

Marvin served in World War II and was a member of the 6th Marine Division, an infantry division formed in September of 1944. During the invasion of Okinawa, it saw combat at Yae-Take and Sugar Loaf Hill and was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation. The 6th Division had also prepared for the invasion of Japan before the war ended.

He was also a member of the 29th Marines, Company Pioneer Battalion, serving in the Pacific.

For more than 50 years, he attended Marine Corps reunions.

Following his funeral service with full military honors, interment took place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co. Pa.
