Speed Limit Restored on I-80 in Clarion and Jefferson Counties – Rt. 422 Remains Closed in Indiana County

Indiana – PennDOT has lifted the speed limit restrictions that were in place on Interstate 80 in Clarion and Jefferson Counties. The speed restriction remains in place in Clearfield, Clinton, and Centre Counties.

Due to the winter storm impacting the region, speed limits were reduced temporarily to 45 mph on Interstate 80 in Clarion and Jefferson counties.

Route 422 is closed in both directions in Indiana County between Nolo Road and Route 259 due to icy conditions.

PennDOT is continuing to treat roadways in the area and will continue until roads are clear.

Although PennDOT recommends not traveling during winter storms, motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting http://www.511PA.com>www.511PA.com.

511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, providestraffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information andaccess to more than 680 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available by calling5-1-1, and regional Twitter alerts are available on the 511PA website.

The department also asks motorists to allow plenty of space when driving near plow trucks. Also, for their own safety and the safety of plow operators, motorists should never attempt to pass a truck while it is plowing or spreading winter materials.

PennDOT reminds motorists to pack an emergency kit for their vehicles. A basic kit should include non-perishable food, water, blanket, small shovel and warm clothes. When preparing an emergency kit, motorists should take into account special needs of passengers such as baby food, pet supplies or medications and pack accordingly.
