Spencer, Anderson Pace Curwensville Softball in Victory


BOSWELL, Pa. (D9Sports) – Sabrina Spencer and Mackenzie Anderson combined for five hits, two runs scored and two RBIs to lift visiting Curwensville to a 7-2 win over North Star.

Spencer was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI with Anderson going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Also for the Lady Tide, Keisha Maines drove in two runs while going 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base with Ariel Zattoni going 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Maria Barnick paced North Star going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Laikyn Will was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Hana Vish 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Clerissia Cole got the win going 4 ? innings allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out two. Rachel LeGars finished off going 2 ? innings allowing two hits while striking out three.

Grace Tressler took the loss going seven innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on eight hits and five walks while striking out nine.

KARNS CITY 16, CLARION-LIMESTONE 6, 5 INNINGS

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Makenzie Shay had two doubles, a home run and four RBIs to lead Karns City to a 16-6, five-inning win over visiting Clarion-Limestone.

Shay was 3-for-3 and also drew a walk while scoring twice.

Mackenzie Dunn also homered and doubled for the Lady Gremlins and was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs.

Taylor Ekis also added a pair of RBIs for Karns City going 2-for-3 with a walk with Alyssa Sitt going 1-for-1 with a double, four walks and four runs scored with Kate Allen going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Sami Grazioli walking once, scoring twice and driving in one and Brittney Friters doubling and scoring a run.

Megan Stahlman and Abby Carl had doubles and runs scored for C-L with Cassidy Makray going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Liz Gruver 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Shay got the win going five innings allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out six.

Karleigh Aaron took the loss going 4 ? innings allowing 16 runs, 14 earned, on 11 hits, two hit batters and nine walks while striking out two.

BASEBALL

CENTRAL-MARTINSBURG 4, CLEARFIELD 3

MARTINSBURG, Pa. – Preston Karstetter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Central-Martinsburg to a 4-3 win over Clearfield.

The Bison looked poised to get out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the inning after Reese Wilson got cleanup hitter Casey Walters to fly out to shallow center. But Wilson hit Karstetter on a 1-1 pitch ending the game.

Clearfield had rallied from a 3-0 deficit with a three-spot in the top of the sixth that featured a two-run Ty Bender double and a game-tying sac fly from Harrison Peacock.

Bender had a pair of doubles while going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Eli Glass also had two doubles going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Seth Bumbarger also had two hits, a walk and a run scored with Nathan Barr picking up a pair of hits as well for Clearfield.

Bowman Jordan had two doubles for Central going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Bracy Nicewonger was also 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.

Wilson took the loss going 2 ? innings allowing one run on two hits, two walks and the hit batter while striking out five. Glass started and went four innings allowing three earned runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batter while striking out three.

Jason Ferry got the win going two innings allowing two hits while striking out two. Jacob Eberlin started and went five-plus innings allowing three runs, one earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out three.
