Standing Water Causes Rollover Crash, Driver Injured

HENDERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 2:27 a.m. on June 26, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 119, south of West Main Street, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 23-year-old Sage B. Lucas, of Punxsutawney, was traveling south on SR 119 and encountered approximately 12″ of standing water on the roadway, which resulted from a malfunctioning of a drainage culvert. The standing water caused Lucas to lose control of his 1996 Toyota Camry.

Police say Lucas’s car traveled off of the west berm and then traveled for approximately 120′ along an embankment before overturning onto its roof.

The car came to final rest in the SR 119 southbound travel lane, facing north, and on its roof.

Lucas was not using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

His car was towed from the scene by Brocious Towing.

Sykesville Area Fire Department assisted at the scene.
