Stanley D. Cribbs, Sr.

Stanley D. Cribbs, Sr., 91, of Falls Creek passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at Christ the King Manor after a short illness. He was born January 28, 1924 in Blairsville.

He was the son of the late Gladys (Gerhard) Carruth. He was married to Mary (Hutton) Cribbs who survives in Brockway.

Stanley was in the US Army during WWII having participated in 5 major battles. He was a rifleman in the Jump Wings Combat Infantry, jumping behind enemy lines and fighting back toward his own lines. Used rifle to destroy and capture and hold enemy personnel and positions. He was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. Stanley loved the outdoors.

Stanley is also survived by his three children: Stanley “Dean” Cribbs, Jr. and wife Shirley of Arizona, Mrs. Kim Edward (Karen Lee) Fors of Grove City, and Mrs. Dan (Terri) Gardner of Brookville, fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Stanley was also preceded in death by a son: David Cribbs and a sister: Marian Zahniser.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, from 1p.m. until 3p.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home. Service will follow at 3p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Trask officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the funeral home following the services.
