State Police Calls: Drug Possession, DUI Crash, Theft

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Area state police responded to the following calls:

Drug Possession in Oliver Township

Around 5:52 p.m. on September 9, Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on State Route 36 near Coolspring Road, in Oliver Township, Jefferson County, on a 2019 Toyota 4-Runner, operated by a known 33-year-old Duquesne man, for a summary traffic violation.

Police say upon further investigation, the driver was found to be driving under the influence and in possession of multiple controlled substances.

Charges are pending results of blood tests.

The name of the driver was not released.

DUI Crash in Bell Township

Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash involving a 2003 Jeep Liberty on Smyerstown Road near Juneau Road in Bell Township, Jefferson County, around 8:30 p.m. on September 13.

According to police, the driver, identified as a 60-year-old Punxsutawney man, was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI.

The name of the driver was not released.

Theft in Barnett Township

On September 14, Marienville-based State police responded to a location on State Route 36 in Barnett Township, Jefferson County, for a report of the theft of money.

Police say the victims, listed as a 79-year-old Clarington man and a 75-year-old Clarington woman, reported a total of $480.00 was missing from the location.

The investigation is ongoing.
