State Police Calls: DUI, Drug Possession

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following calls:

DUI in Pine Creek Township

Around 10:35 a.m. on March 29, Punxsutawney-based State Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 80 in Pine Creek Township after observing traffic violations.

Police say the driver, identified as 27-year-old Aboubakary Kanuteh, of Bronx, New York, then displayed indicators of impairment due to a controlled substance and was arrested for DUI.

According to police, Kanuteh then provided a false name.

He was subsequently transported to the Jefferson County Jail to await arraignment.

Drug Possession in Young Township

Around 9:19 p.m. on March 27, Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Route 436 near Alliance Drive in Young Township, Jefferson County.

Police say the driver, identified as a known female, displayed indicators of impairment and was then arrested for suspicion of DUI.

According to police, a known male passenger in the vehicle was also found to be in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and was also placed under arrest.

Charges are pending further investigation.

The names of the suspects were not released.
