State Police Calls: Man Caught Smoking Marijuana While Driving; Domestic Disturbance

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following calls:

Drug Possession in Oliver Township

Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 12:47 p.m. on July 16, a 2016 Nissan Versa operated by a known 35-year-old Punxsutawney man was stopped after the driver was observed smoking a marijuana pipe while operating his vehicle on State Route 36 in Oliver Township, Jefferson County.

The man was subsequently taken into custody for driving under the influence, as well as possession of a controlled substance and related paraphernalia.

Related charges are pending.

The name of the suspect was not released.

Domestic Disturbance in Punxsutawney Borough

Around 11:02 a.m. on July 18, Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a location on Mulligan Drive in Young Township, Jefferson County, for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Police say after an investigation, it was determined that 31-year-old Joseph Charney, of Burnside, had pushed a known 30-year-old Punxsutawney woman.

Charges of harassment are pending.
