State Police Calls: DUI, Drug Possession

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following calls:

Drug Possession in Punxsutawney Borough

Around 11:17 p.m. on November 26, Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a black 2015 Dodge SUV on Ridge Avenue near Elk Run Avenue in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County, for a lighting and registration violation.

While engaging the driver, identified as a 38-year-old Punxsutawney man, police say they detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle then yielded a small amount of suspected raw marijuana, suspected THC wax, and suspected Psilocybin mushrooms.

The investigation is ongoing.

The name of the driver was not released.

DUI in Punxsutawney Borough

Around 7:50 p.m. on November 28, Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu on North Jefferson Street near Torrence Street in Punxsutawney Borough.

According to police, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Brandon Lydic, of Cherry Tree, was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The investigation is ongoing.
