State Police Calls: Police Investigating Suspected Child Abuse

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Area state police responded to the following calls:

Police Investigating Suspected Child Abuse

Punxsutawney-based State Police have released information regarding an investigation of child abuse along Frostburg Road, in Perry Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 4-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, both of Punxsutawney, were victims of a suspected incident of harassment and child abuse on May 14.

The case remains under investigation.

Terroristic Threats

PSP Punxsutawney was dispatched to Stonetown Road, in Canoe Township, Jefferson County, for a reported altercation between two individuals around 9:34 p.m. on Saturday, August 6.

Police say a 36-year-old Rossiter man pointed a rifle at another male. The actor was taken into custody and placed in the Indiana County Jail.

The victims are listed as a 58-year-old Weedville man and a 27-year-old Punxsutawney woman.

The suspect’s name was not released.

DUI in Punxsutawney

Punxsutawney-based State Police are investigating a suspected DUI along Park Avenue, near North Penn Street, in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

Upon police arrival, a known male was observed asleep at the wheel of a running Chevrolet Silverado truck that was partially blocking the roadway.

The male displayed multiple visual indicators of impairment and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected emanating from within the vehicle, police said.

The male was instructed to exit his vehicle and a battery of field sobriety tests were conducted. He was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

The investigation is ongoing.

His name was not released.

Money Found Near Abes Ice Cream Shop

On Saturday, August 6, around 8:37 p.m., money was found near Abe’s Ice Cream Shop along State Route 36, near Cloe Rossiter Road, in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

Anyone wishing to claim the money should contact PSP Punxsutawney at 814-938-0510. Person must be able to describe the amount and denomination.

Found Property

On Saturday, August 6, around 1:30 p.m., a black in color Canon EOS 4000 D camera with a Vivitar HD telephoto lens was found laying on the roadway near the intersection of Bottom Road and Ferguson Road, in the southernmost portion of Eldred Township, Jefferson County.
