State Police Calls: Troopers Recover Stolen Firearms, Investigation Continues

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following incidents:

Troopers Recover Stolen Firearms, Investigation Continues

PSP Punxsutawney responded to a residence on Porter Road, in Porter Township, Jefferson County, for a report of firearms that were stolen. The theft occurred sometime between 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, and 10:52 p.m. on Sunday, March 12.

Police say the firearms were recovered through investigation.

The stolen firearms are a Springfield Arms .93R17 Savage Model 93R17 (17HMR) with a magazine and Bushnell Scope, as well as a Mossberg 835 12 gauge.

According to police, 17HMR ammunition was also stolen.

The victim is a 35-year-old Plumville man.

The investigation remains open.

Identity Theft in Knox Township

According to a release issued by PSP Punxsutawney on Wednesday, March 15, troopers received a report of identity theft near Markton Road in Knox Township, Jefferson County, on February 4.

Police say the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) opened a savings account using his name and social security number.

The victim is a 46-year-old Knox Dale man.
