State Police Calls: Woman Who Refused to Wear Mask Charged After Confrontation Gets Physical

JEFFERSON/CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following incidents:

Harassment in Perry Township

According to police, around noon on March 21, an incident of harassment occurred at a location on Monroe Street in Perry Township.

Police say 50-year-old Charlene Smilo, of Valier, allegedly pushed a known 67-year-old female victim from Punxsutawney several times after refusing to wear a mask.

Smilo was charged with harassment.

No injuries were reported.

Hit and Run in Burnside Township

According to police, around 1:11 a.m. on March 26, a hit-and-run crash occurred on a private drive just west of State Route 219 and south of State Route 286 in Burnside Township, Clearfield County.

Police say an unknown driver in a 2003 Ford F-150 turned off of State Route 219 and onto a private driveway and then struck a tree approximately 10 feet to the right of the driveway and third feet from State Route 219.

According to police, the vehicle sustained functional damage to the front end but did not damage the tree. The drive then fled the scene and was not located when a canvas of the area was performed.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Smitty’s Towing.
