State Police: Deer Responsible for One-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80 in Pine Creek Township

State PolicePINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident involving a deer occurred on November 2 around 7:30 p.m., in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the crash occurred as Christopher D. Pechtold, 42, of Warriors Mark, Pa., was traveling eastbound in a 1999 Ford F-250 on Interstate 80 near the 85.3 mile marker.

Pechtold was traveling in the right lane when a deer ran onto the roadway, police say.

The front center of Pechtold’s vehicle impacted the deer then came to a controlled final rest on the shoulder facing southeast after continuing eastbound and crossing the right fog line, according to police.

Pechtold was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury in the crash.
