State Police Investigating Multiple Reports of Identity Theft

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are currently investigating multiple reports of identity theft related to false unemployment claims.

The following incidents are under investigation for a false PA unemployment claim:

– July 13, the victim is a known 41-year-old Punxsutawney man.

– July 15, the victim is a known 42-year-old Punxsutawney woman.

– July 16, the victim is a known 47-year-old Punxsutawney man.

– July 16, the victim is a known 63-year-old Punxsutawney man.

Message from PSP Punxsutawney:

Police say individuals who receive unemployment claim paperwork but have not made a claim should contact the PA Fraud Hotline at 1-800-692-7469 to make contact with the PA Department of Labor and Industry and the PA Office of Unemployment Compensation.
