State Police Respond to Tractor-Trailer Crash on Route 119, Bell Township

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a one-vehicle crash occurred on Friday evening on State Route 119, in Bell Township.

According to police, around 5:26 p.m. on Friday, January 17, a 2013 Freightliner Glider, operated by 69-year-old Charles K. Vallimont, of Clearfield, was traveling northbound on Route 119, in Bell Township, Jefferson County. Vallimont moved to the right side of the roadway to avoid a collision with another vehicle that was traveling southbound.

The tractor-trailer left the roadway and struck a guide rail. After the initial impact, the vehicle continued to contact the guide rail for approximately 251 feet before correcting the vehicle back onto the roadway. The vehicle traveled a short distance to a parking lot at the intersection of Route 119 and Rikers Road.

Vallimont was using a seat belt and was not injured.
