NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) – Just in time for Memorial Day, a 14 and-a-half-foot long, seven foot high, and five-foot wide wooden sculpture of the “Raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima” arrived in front of the New Bethlehem VFW on Broad Street.
The sculpture is based on a photo by Joe Rosenthal of the American Press.
The VFW commissioned chainsaw artist Dawna Ceriani, of Brockport, to carve the statue.
