Stewart Meade “Stew” Chesnutt

Chestnutt StewartStewart Meade “Stew” Chesnutt passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at Brookside Senior Living in Brookville.

He was born Dec. 13, 1925, a son of the late Stewart O. and Margaret M. (Moore) Chesnutt. He was married on Oct. 11, 1950, to Neva E. Diehl. She preceded him in death in 1996.

Stew served in the United States Army during World War II, owned Stewart’s Men’s Wear in Brookville and served as the Brookville Borough tax collector.

He was a member of the American Legion and was a Past Master of Hobah Lodge #276.

Community was very important to Stew and he was involved in all aspects, volunteering for many local organizations. He was an avid sports fan and loved to golf most of all.

Stew is survived by his children, Jane Chesnutt and David Chesnutt of Brookville; and his grandchildren, Christopher Kilmer of San Diego, Calif., Elizabeth Chesnutt and Stewart Chesnutt of Brookville.
Family will be conducting private services at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
