SUMMERVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Additional charges have been filed against a Summerville man in a string of burglaries in Jefferson County.

Punxsutawney-based State Police have filed the following new charges against 26-year-old Tyler Alan Ross in connection with a January 11 burglary in Summerville:

– Burglary – Overnight Accommodation, No Person, Felony 1
– Criminal Tres-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1

According to a criminal complaint filed at Gregory M. Bazylak’s office, the investigation was initiated on January 12 when a Summerville couple discovered that an antique jug containing approximately $1000 in U.S. currency was missing from their home. The male victim’s wedding ring, valued at $800, was also reported missing.

On January 22, Punxsutawney-based State Police Trooper Mosier interviewed the victim and explained that Tyler Alan Ross was a suspect in numerous burglaries in the Summerville area.

Trooper Mosier asked the victim if Ross had ever been in his home. The victim confirmed that Ross had been in the residence during a time period when Ross coached his son in baseball.

The complaint states that police were then able to obtain video of Ross allegedly utilizing a coin machine at a store in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

Investigators say that Ross cashed in $489.80 in change on January 11 and $376.80 on January 18.

According to the complaint, Jefferson County Public Defender John Ingros granted Trooper Mosier permission to speak with Ross regarding the investigation. Ingros is representing Ross on a number of burglary cases.

During the interview, Ross admitted he was responsible for taking the ring and money, according to the complaint.

The complaint states Ross told police that he disposed of the antique glass jar in a dumpster behind Giant Eagle in Brookville.

Ross also told investigators that he sold the ring to a “gold shop” in Sharon, Pa. for $200.

A preliminary hearing is set for July 8.

Ross is now facing a total of 51 charges in 11 separate cases involving theft and burglary in Jefferson County.
