Sun’s Glare Causes Two-Car Crash on I-80, Washington Township

Police car lights WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a two-car accident occurred on Interstate 80, around mile marker 93.5, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 20-year-old Jessica D. Clark, of Clarion, and 76-year-old Edward A. Singer, of College Park, Md., were involved in the collision.

Police say Clark was traveling westbound on I-80 in the right lane in a 2005 Saturn Ion behind Singer’s 2013 Toyota Prius; both vehicles had a glare from the sun. The Toyota slowed down to approximately 20 MPH and was struck from behind by the Saturn. Both cars came to a final rest on the right berm of I-80.

Both drivers were using seat belts and were not injured.

Both were charged with traffic violations.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Zimmerman’s Towing.
