Sykesville Fugitive Apprehended; Jailed on $400k Bail

SYKESVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A Sykesville man wanted on drug charges since May has been apprehended, according to Punxsutawney-based State Police.

Police say 45-year-old Mark Darren Shaffer was taken into custody yesterday at his residence in Sykesville without incident.

Shaffer was one of eighteen people charged in a Jefferson County drug sting on April 30.

Court documents show that Shaffer is facing the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony – 4 counts
– Criminal Use Of Communication Facility, Felony – 4 Counts
– Conspiracy – Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Misdemeanor
– Intent to Posses Controlled Substance By Per Not Reg, Misdemeanor – 3 counts

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Douglas Chambers and subsequently placed in the Jefferson County Jail on $400,000 straight cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for August 21.
