Sylvia “Jean” Lindy

Sylvia “Jean” Lindy, 83, of Reynoldsville, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at her home.

She was born December 20, 1938 in Philipsburg, the daughter of Charles E and Lucinda A (Harvey) Smith.

Mrs. Lindy was co-owner with her husband James of Lindy Concrete.

In her earlier years she had been a waitress at the former Harvey’s Truck Stop in Woodland.

Sylvia “Jean” loved her family and spending time with them.

She also loved to go camping at Glendale Lake and quilting.

Sylvia “Jean” is survived by her husband of 48 years, James R. Lindy, Sr., seven children; James R. Lindy, Jr., John A. “Toby” Bailey (Betty) and Janet L. Speck (Richard) all of Reynoldsville, Lucinda A. Hummel (Lee) of Osceola Mills, JoAnn L. Bennett (Mike) of Brockway and Dan Bailey (Naomi) and Shawn D. Bailey all of Reynoldsville, 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, two sisters; Donna Mann of Philipsburg and Mary Lou Killion of Clearfield and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Tammy Jo Johnson and Debra Nicholson, two brothers; James and Robert Smith and a sister, Betty J. Williams.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday,Oct 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Soldier Community Church with the Rev. Kevin Brooks officiating for family members.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org/memorial.
