Teen Injured in Rollover Crash in Jefferson County

YOUNG TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 2:17 p.m. on March 15, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Snyder Hill Road, 115 feet west of Peden Park Road, in Young Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, a 17-year-old male, of Rossiter, was traveling east along Snyder Hill Road and failed to negotiate a slight left hand curve in the roadway. His vehicle traveled off the south berm and struck a drainage culvert.

The impact caused the vehicle to begin spinning in a clockwise direction. It slid sideways up and across an embankment, and after the wheels slid into the soft ground it rolled onto the driver’s side, police say.

It continued rolling over until the the vehicle rolled down off the embankment and came to rest on its wheels as it entered the intersection with Peden Park Road, then it slid backwards a short distance where it came to rest facing west.

The teen was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Jefferson County EMS transported him to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for evaluation.

Punxsutawney’s Central Fire Department; Jefferson County EMS; and Rebuck’s South Side Towing assisted at the scene.
