HYDE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Using a 10-run first inning, second-seeded Clearfield defeated visiting third-seeded Brookville, 12-0 in five innings, in the District 9 Class 3A Semifinals.

“We don’t really score in the first inning that much,” Karly Rumsky said of the Bison’s big first inning performance. “To get that many runs in the first inning just really started the fire, and we were able to keep it up.”

Rumsky was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs for the Lady Bison.
Olivia Bender led the Clearfield offense driving in two runs while going 3-for-3 with a double. Morgan Cheek and Kylee Hertlein each had three hits with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. Emma Hipps singled, had a pair of runs scored with an RBI and Lauren Ressler tripled with a run scored and two RBIs.
Ressler’s two-run triple came in the 10-run first inning, while Bender had a two-run double in the inning as well that made the score 10-0.
Leah Kammerdiener singled for the lone Lady Raiders hit in the fourth inning.
Hipps threw a five-inning shutout for Clearfield striking out 13 batters while allowing a base hit and walking one batter.
Carlie McManigle took the loss for Brookville giving up five earned runs.
Clearfield will face top-seeded Karns City for the Class 3A Championship May 29 at Heindl Field in DuBois.
