Local Residents Share Why They Are ‘Thankful’ on Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving Day upon us, we asked residents from Jefferson County and surrounding areas to share what makes them most thankful in 2015.

Elaine Smith of Brockport, “Elaine Smith We have lots to be thankful for this year . We had a family member diagnosed with cancer while it’s no curable it is treatable . My daughter has a chronic illness as well and we have stayed out of children’s hospital for 3 months . I had a few cancer scares and praying they Are wrong . My father had a stroke and he’s now home . Last but not least we will have a new baby in the family next year . We have been blessed beyond words.”

Gary Rex “Thankful for my wife and family of 3 sons, wives and 8 grandchildren. Plan on enjoying them all this weekend.”

Rita Woodard, “I’m thankful for so much! It’s hard to narrow it down to the most thankful. I’ll go with freedom! I can choose my job, where I live, and if I have a gym membership. I am so thankful that I get to decide what to make happen in my life. Im thankful for our freedoms!”

Jennifer McBride Rupp, “I’m thankful for getting to run my first 5K with my son this morning for Seth Apel!”

Jodie Cousins “I am thankful to be here to enjoy another Thanksgiving with my family. My two kids and husband are my entire life and I am thankful for EVERY day I have with them. Tomorrow isn’t promised so cherish every single moment!! I am also thankful to have a job and a roof over my head as well as a car. It’s the little things; if you don’t appreciate them, you start to take everything for granted. I am also very thankful for the chance to win Steelers tickets! I have been one of their biggest fans since I was probably 8, but never have been to a game because I can’t afford tickets. It would be THE most AWESOME thing in the world to experience!!
