Thomas Haines SrThomas E. Haines Sr., age 85, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

He was born in Brookville, PA, on November 19, 1929, to the late Paul L. and Mary D. (Carrier) Haines.

He is survived by his lovely wife Peggy (Butler) Haines.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

His incredible work ethic took him to many different jobs and areas including working for the Jeffersonian Democrat, the Brookville Police Department, the Waterford Borough, PA, Police Department, he was an Erie County Constable, a Motor Freight Express Driver, and he worked for Gannon University Security Police.

He was had a life membership with the American Legion in Waterford, PA, and a life membership with the Union City Sportsman Club.

He had attended the All Saints R.C. Church in Waterford, PA, and was a member of both the DuBois Pistol Club and the Sigel Pistol Club.

In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived by his children, Thomas E. Haines Jr., of Treasure Lake, DuBois,PA; Robert “Robin” P. (Shelley) Haines of Brookville, PA; Patrick M. (Antje) Haines of Winchester, VA; Pamela Haines (Henry) Steele of Brookville, PA; Christopher M. (Diana) Haines of Ruther Glen, VA; step-son Floyd L. (JoAnn) Scott of Waterford, PA; his additional step-children, David Butler of North Carolina; Michael (Melanie) Butler of Clarion, PA; Thomas Butler of Brookville, PA; Rhoda (Robert) Allshouse of Brookville, PA; Tina (Keith) Harbison of Brookville, PA; Brian (Wanda) Butler of Summerville, PA; his brothers, William D. Haines of New York, and George R. (Joyce) Haines of Brookville, PA; Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (Johns) Haines; his second wife, Helen M. (Irwin) Haines; his sister, Ellen (Haines) Sherman; and his daughter, Judith Ann (Haines) Huff.

He will be truly missed. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 2 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA, 15825.

Military honors will be held for him at the funeral home on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 9:30am.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will also take place on Friday, October 30, 2015, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA, 15825, beginning at 11:00am; Father William Laska will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101, or to the American Diabetes Association, 1st Floor 100 W. Station Square Dr., Pittsburgh, PA, 15219.
