Thomas J. Blakeslee

Tomas BakesleeThomas J. Blakeslee, 59, DuBois, entered the eternal kingdom of heaven on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Tom was born April 30, 1958, a son of the late Barton G. Blakeslee Sr. and Ann L. (Webb) Blakeslee, Reynoldsville, PA. She survives.

He married Mona M. Blakeslee (Gearhart) on September 19, 1981.

She survives. They were happily married for 35 years.

He is survived by three children, Elisha (Scott) Burns of Brookville, PA, Carrie Blakeslee and her fiancée, Ryan Wansolich, of Washington, PA, and Jeffrey (Gabby) Blakeslee of DuBois, PA; his grandchildren, the lights of his eye, Isaac and Emily Burns; a sister, Karen Thoben of Fairfax, VA; brothers, David Blakeslee of DuBois and Brian (Barbara) Blakeslee of Frederick, MD, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Tom graduated from Jeff Tech in 1976. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy.

He made a living as a crane mechanic at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and most recently worked as a truck driver.

Tom enjoyed watching football and was a fan of the Steelers and Penn State.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a member of the DuBois American Legion, the DuBois VFW, and the Reynoldsville United Methodist Church.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, his brother, Barton G. Blakeslee Jr., and his mother-in-law, Leota (Cowie) Gearhart.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, May 7th from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday, May 8th from 10-11 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc.

A funeral service will follow Monday’s visitation at 11 a.m. with Reverends Steven Kornbau and Lana London officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
