Thomas Preston Elkin, Sr.

Thomas Preston Elkin, Sr., 92, of (Porter) Punxsutawney, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at home.

He was born in Smicksburg on July 26, 1928, a son of the late David Alexander Elkin and Annie Florence (Justice) Elkin.

Mr. Elkin was a United States Air Force Veteran that served during the Korean Conflict.

On September 15, 1961, he married his sweetheart, companion and best friend for life, Isabell Ruth Wells. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2015.

Tom previously enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting, fishing, his beagle dogs and going for Sunday drives with his wife Isabell. Following the loss of his wife, Tom really missed her company and the simple life the shared together.

He is survived by two children, Lois Dummond Of Punxsutawney and Thomas Preston Elkin, Jr. and wife Becky of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Derek Elkin, Brandy Slovinsky and Brilyn Elkin; four great grandchildren, Colton Slovinsky, Maverick Slovinsky, Rylee, and Payton.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Drummond; two brothers, Merle Elkin and Harry Elkin.

A private family viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Carole Bergman.

Interment will follow at the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Smicksburg.

Due to allergies, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Porter United Methodist Church, 3176 Porter Road, Punxsutawney, PA, 15767 or the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, 439 Barnard Road, Smicksburg, PA, 16256.
