Thursday Baseball: Park Helps Brookville Roll Past Oil City


OIL CITY, Pa. (D9Sports) – Aaron Park threw a two-hit shutout and also drove in two runs while scoring three times to lead visiting Brookville to a 12-0, five-inning win over Oil City.

Park struck out eight and walked only one while needing 71 pitches to get through his five innings to get the win. He was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.

Dane Lyle chipped in three RBIs for the Raiders going 2-for-3, while Chase Palmer was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Seth Dunkle 1-for-3 with three runs scored.

Sawyer Manning and Colby Rybath had the hits for Oil City.

CRANBERRY SWEEPS FOREST AREA

KNOX, Pa. – In a doubleheader that was moved twice in one day, Cranberry swept past Forest Area in a doubleheader at Keystone High School winning by scores of 13-3 in five innings and 11-1 in five innings.

The games were originally set for East Forest High School but were moved in the morning to Cranberry because of field conditions at East Forest. But an early afternoon rainstorm made Cranberry’s field unplayable. Cranberry manager Pat Irwin and Cranberry athletic director Brad Earp where then able to get the game moved to Keystone, where Irwin’s dad, Bill Irwin, is the athletic director.

It was worth the trouble for the Berries.

In the first game, Trevor Gladin and Tommy Flinspach both drove in three runs.

Gladin was 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs scored with Flinspach going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Also for Cranberry, Shay Harry was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Brandon Forrest was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Trevin Chittester was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Anthony Smith was 1-for-2 with a run scored for Forest Area.

In Game Two, Gladin drove in a pair of runs with Harry going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Forrest 1-for-2 with three runs scored for the Berries.

Dillon DiCorpo was 1-for-1 with a run scored for Forest Area.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 7, INDIANA 1

INDIANA, Pa. – Isaac Stouffer and Derek Huey combined on a two-hitter, as visiting Punxsutawney beat Indiana, 7-1.

Stouffer went five innings allowing one run on two hits and a walk while striking out four. Huey pitched two scoreless innings of relief striking out one.

Tyler Richardson led the offense going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and four RBIs. Stouffer helped himself by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Andrew Britton was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 6, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 2

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Brady Schneider tossed a four-hitter to give Elk County Catholic a 6-2 win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic.

Schneider, who walked two and struck out one, gave up two earned runs.

Alec Wehler had a pair of RBIs in the win for the Crusaders with Will Uberti going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Brandon Walker had a double and a run scored for DCC.

Anthony Kness suffered the loss going 4 ⅔ innings giving up six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out one.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 7, CLEARFIELD 1

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Josh Earnest had a triple and three RBIs to lead Philipsburg-Osceola to a 7-1 win over visiting Clearfield.

Ryan Whitehead got the complete-game win needing just 82 pitches. He allowed one run on five hits while striking out two.

Reese Wilson tripled and scored for Clearfield, Nathan Barr had the RBI and Eli Glass doubled.

Hunter Hipps took the loss going 4 ⅓ innings allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks. He struck out one.
