Timko Gem Helps Curwensville to 1-0, 8-Inning Win over MoValley


CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Jeremiah Farley’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Bryce Timko to give Curwensville a 1-0 win over visiting Moshannon Valley.

Timko led off the inning with a single and moved to second when Jake McCracken walked. Christian Bakaysa with a sacrifice bunt before Brock Heitsenrether was intentionally walked.

The sac fly made a winner out of McCracken, who relieved Timko, who was outstanding through 7 ⅔ innings before being taken out because he had reached the 100-pitch limit.

Timko allowed just one hit and four walks while striking out 13. McCracken struck out the only batter he faced.

Alex Kitko and Jacob Matchock nearly matched Timko and McCracken. Kitko went 5 ⅓ innings allowing three hits and six walks while striking out 10. Matchcock took the loss going 2 ⅓ allowing a hit, a run while walking two.

DUBOIS 8, ALTOONA 7

DUBOIS, Pa. – Justin Swauger’s hit in the bottom of the seventh lifted DuBois to an 8-7 winner over visiting Altoona at Showers Field.

It was the third hit of the day and third RBI for Swauger, while Dylan McCluskey had a pair of hits, including a double. Dayne Bauman got the win.

KARNS CITY 9, BROCKWAY 0

BUTLER, Pa. – Nolan Riley tossed a one-hit shutout as Karns City blanked visiting Brockway, 9-0, at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Riley struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter.

Riley helped his own cause going 1-for-3 with a triple, two walks, a run scored and two RBIs.

Logan Pistorius added a double, a run scored and three RBIs for the Gremlins with Steve O’Donnell scoring twice.

Tino Inzana had the lone hit for Brockway and took the loss allowing six unearned runs on five hits, two hit batters and two walks while striking out one in three innings.
